What is Dance Response?
Dance Response is a unique matching system which helps schools connect with dancers who can deliver high quality dance experiences.
It will also enables schools and other organisations to advertise events and courses, or find ones which they would like to attend themselves.
How will I know if the dancer is able to deliver high quality dance experiences for my pupils?
The qualifications and experience of the dancers who register on Dance Response will be checked and verified by our staff. Each dancer has to submit the name and contact details for a referee when they register on the site. Finally, when a dancers has worked in your school you will be asked to rate the dancers from 1 – 5. This rating will show against the dancer's profile so that other schools can use this to inform their choice of dancer.
How will I know if dancers have the correct insurances and police checks to work in schools?
Each dancer's profile will clearly show if their CRB check and insurance details have been verified by Dance Response staff.
What happens if the dancer I want is not available?
Where possible you will be asked to select three dancers when you make a booking and rank them in order of preference. This is to maximise the chances of you getting a match with a dancer. The dancers will be offered the work in the order you identify. In the unlikely event that none of the dancers are available then you will receive telephone support from a member of Dance Response staff. Obviously as more dancers join the system finding a match will become easier!
Why are we asked for information about the height, size and ventilation of the room?
The facilities of the room where the dance sessions are held will impact on the activities which a dancer can do. For instance if the room has a low ceiling, or a tiled floor then the dancer will need to bear this in mind when devising the dance session/s.
What would be a suitable space for dance sessions?
The following information will provide guidelines for teachers when finding a space for dance classes, or identifying a suitable number of students who can safely dance in the room available:
Space
Allow a minimum of 3 square metres for each participant of primary school age or 5 square metres for those in
secondary or tertiary education.
Height
It is important to have headroom so that the dancer can move freely. A height of at least 3.5m is ideal.
Ventilation
It is important that there is a supply of fresh air so that the dancers can replenish their energy quickly.
Windows and doors are helpful but you need to be mindful of draughts.
Floors
A sprung wooden floor is the ideal surface.
What payment methods do you accept?
We currently accept Visa, MasterCard and Maestro/Switch through the Google Checkout interface. We would prefer it if you can pay by this method. However there is also an option for your school to receive an invoice, so that payment can be made by BACs or a cheque.
Why do we have to pay before the dancer has completed the work?
Dance Response needs payment in advance so that we can pay the dancers promptly when the work is completed. If the workshop/s does not happen due to the fault of the dancer or Dance Response the money will be refunded.
How does the dancer rating system work?
Each school can rate a dancer who has worked in their school from 1 -5. This rating will show against the dancer's profile so other schools can use it when deciding which dancer to book
What is a bespoke package?
A bespoke package will be any way that a dancer works in a school other than the specific packages identified on the site.
