Contemporary
Contemporary Dance is an umbrella title for many different theatre dance styles developed during the twentieth centuryincluding Laban, Cunningham and Graham. Each style is named after the person who invented it. The technique is seen as a tool for strengthening the body and increasing flexibility and includes dancers in not only working standing up but also using 'floor work'. The dancers work in 'parallel 'with thier legs, rather than 'turned-out' as in ballet.
