South Asian
South Asian Dance is a collective name used for dance forms from India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It comprises a number of classical and folk forms. The classical forms most easily available in Great Britain are Bharata Natyam, Kathakali and Katak. The folk styles generally used by dancers are Bhangra and Gidda. Bollywood is a hybrid form which came out of the Indian film industry. It has taken traditional elements of classical indian dance and combined them with steps taken from styles such as street and jazz.
